Happy Valley Hate: vidangel Vol 11 The MCS1 Show

There are few things I hate in life more acting like you're a badass on weekends, but yet are able to virtue signal on weekdays. vidangel is exactly that. It takes the "hardcore" tough stuff (like profanity, nudity, violence, you know anything cool) out of popular/cool movies and TV shows.  It's like reading playboy for the articles, which no body actually does it (except this demographic).  but vidangel users get to pick and choose what "terrible things" they want to withhold from their fragile minds.  It's viewers are able to enjoy a violent R rated movie while keeping their sensitive, socially constructed morals intact.  Hooray!

As vidangel continues to pussify Happy Valley (and anywhere else it's shitty service is available), Hollywood pushes hard with legal action.  They've only been sued by a few "big name" film companies. You know like: Disney, Warner Brothers, 20 century Fox, and Lucas film. Many people from Utah I talk to about vidangel admire the fact that they are standing up to Hollywood.  To be honest I kind of do too.  It's a classic David and Goliath battle, except Goliath already won and now David is trying to come back for round 2.  They're still holding onto the whole Family movie act of 2005 (which allows consumers to skip objectionable audio and video content in motion pictures without committing copyright infringement. Source: http://www.sltrib.com/news/2017/08/28/utah-video-filtering-company-loses-another-round-in-legal-battle-with-hollywood-studios/ ) A judge said that wasn't good enough, and thus vidangel had to comply.

vidangel hasn't given up the fight. They released a blog post and video to let everyone know whats up in the filtering world. They've now revealed their mighty ace in the hole... Chapter 11 bankruptcy Reorganization! Yes the mighty Mormon Netflix has declared bankruptcy, but not for reasons you might thing (sounds like a click-bait title).  The claim to fame is that "Marvel and Delta) once did chapter 11 so if they can bounce back so can vidangel! Fair point, I'd like to ask a question "How many companies go into Chapter 11 come out ahead?" I honestly don't know of too many.  When I was 19 I worked for a company that filed for Chapter 11. It was the beginning of the end. I left before the company could close it's doors, but when they did it was bad.  They passed out checks that were bad then announced the bank was coming the next day to size the company. One guy was able to cash his check, rest weren't so lucky.  The former employees met up once at an auction for the bank to sell off company assets. Some employees didn't have enough time to get their personal belongings out of the building and had to purchase them back or watch them be sold.  The point is, Chapter 11 isn't exactly a good thing. Yet, vidangel has once against filtered reality to try to make it appear that it is.

The real strategy behind the executive move of Chapter 11 is to block the Hollywood lawsuit even further.  It will give the vidangel legal time to come up with some well filtered spin as to why their service is legal and all that jazz. Because I'm totally sure that Hollywood will totally be idle during the time vidangel will be reworking their legal strategy.

vidangel also launched a new platform, which now edits your favorite streaming service. In short, vidangel moved from a full-on streaming service to a plug in editing service. So you can watch Netflix, HBO, & Amazon edited to an unrealistically wholesome point of view. I see this opening up a new can of worms for vidangel. But time will tell on that one.

At the very end of their blog they mentioned that they are "Exploding" (this was in regard to how many minutes of content that was viewed in the last week with their service". I will say the company isn't exploding, i'd say it's more imploding if anything. Chapter 11 isn't an easy thing and despite the "millions in the bank" vid angel claims to have, they have a lawsuit to get back to once their reality filter finally crashes.

Being the terrible person I am I left a quality comment on their blog (by the way here's the link http://blog.vidangel.com/category/legal/), I stated "You won't last."  vidangel is a failed relic of the past that is trying to live in the future. Just as cleanflix failed so will vidagnel (despite its streaming).   vidangel was kind enough to reply with "Watch us." followed by a quote from a commentary from the art of war.  Not even the original book but a commentary   I'm guessing the poster went to Google for a good comeback quote to solidify his 2 word response.  As someone who's read the Art of War (and listens to it on audio-book about once a year) I would like to close out this post with this quote.

“Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”

And... also my commentary, cause the world is built in commentary these days... vidangel is trying to appear strong with "millions in the bank", a new form of streaming service, and exploding with tons of minutes watched on their platform. It's quite the spin, but a bad one. This is the beginning of the end for vidangel & once again filtering will die until yet another Happy Valley based company tries to get greedy and make a quick buck in a few years by picking up the already extinguished torch.  - MCS1
